2010-2011 ICH Youth Hockey Registration

Hello ICH Families,

I am excited to inform you that we are now using online registration for ICH youth hockey! We are using Active.com’s event registration service, so it’s safe and secure with both credit card and echeck options for payment.

Online registration will be available August 16- September 2, 2010 for the 2010-2011 hockey season. Please visit our registration & fees page for information regarding fees and to REGISTER NOW »

You will still need to also register each player with USA hockey for the current year, so be sure to do that before you start the ICH online registration process.

Only a $50 deposit will be due at registration. The remaining balance will then be invoiced and paid online in 3 installments.

Also please plan to attend a parent informational meeting either August 30 or September 2, 2010 from 7-8pm at Coral Ridge Ice Arena. Coaches and board members will be available to assist you with equipment or other hockey questions before and after the meeting.

ICH Hokey Pokey- August 16

This year’s Fryfest is holding a “hokey pokey” contest. The idea is to get a group of people to do the hokey pokey in a creative way. ICH would like to submit a video of hockey kids and adults “shakin’ it all about” on the ice. Please bring your gear and come join us at Coral Ridge Ice Arena on Monday, August 16 at 7p.m. It should be fun and a great way to promote the sport we love to the community!!

ICH Tournament Meeting- August 2

We have plans to expand our annual tournament this year! We will be inviting teams at the mini-mite, mite, squirt, and peewee levels. With this expansion, we will need many volunteers to make our tournament organized and successful.

There will be an informational meeting Monday Aug 2 at 7 PM. All members are invited to attend as we begin planning and committee building.

4th of July Parade- Exciting News!

ICH will be driving a fire truck in the Coralville 4th of July Parade! An ICH parent has access to a truck and is willing to let us use it for the parade. If you and your family would like to participate please reply ASAP. If we don’t get enough volunteers, we need to let the parade organizers know that we are forfeiting our spot.

As a reminder…..

Everyone should meet in the Geico/McGregor’s Parking Lot between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. The parade starts at noon.

Please have your player wear their ICH practice jersey.

If your child wants to rollerblade instead of riding on the truck, please have them wear a helmet.

We’ll be handing out frisbees and magnet-style business cards.

We need to have 5-6 adults with the kids.

We’ve recently had a bit of bad luck strike the ICH website. First we experienced a weather related failure then immediately followed that with an issue with the back-up files. So we are working hard to get the site back in tip top shape, but since we are a volunteer organization it might take a little while. I’m hoping we can have things updated by the end of the week. Thank you for your patience.

IC Blizzard win the Iowa Games!

The IC Blizzard teams traveled to Dubuque to compete in the Iowa Games this weekend. Both the Squirts and Mites won their divisions!! More to come…

IC Blizzard Squirt team wins tournament!

Congratulations to the IC Blizzard Squirt team for winning the 2nd annual ICH Holiday Face-off tournament this weekend! Thank you to the Quad Cities Ice Eagles (2nd) and the Des Moines Junior Chops (3rd) for traveling and participating.

A special thanks to all the parents and family members who have donated their time and talent to make the tournament a success.

ICH & Blizzard Apparel Order! (Due 11/30)

We are now collecting orders for an ICH & Blizzard winter apparel order. We have added a few new items this year including a dri-fit shirt and an embroidered stocking cap, so be sure to check them out!

Orders and payment are DUE Mon 11/30 so items can be ready by Christmas. (Kayle McKay, Lisa Mascardo and Tina Riggan will be collecting orders at practices.)

October Skills Sessions

The Pee Wee, Bantam and Squirt players should plan to attend skills sessions at Coral Ridge Ice Arena in October. The Pee Wee and Bantam teams will be practicing October 12 and October 19th from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The Squirts will have a required skills session/evaluation on October 26 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The cost will be $7.50 per player, made payable to the rink on the night of the session.

ICH in the U of I Homecoming Parade

The Iowa homecoming parade is fast approaching, and as always, we will have an ICH entry. The date is Friday Oct. 9th. Line up is between 3:30-5pm. Pizza will be served around 5:00. Parade starts at 5:45. Kids can roller blade or walk. If roller blading, helmets MUST be worn. Parents are needed to walk as well. We will bring hockey jerseys for players to wear. ICH will not be providing candy, but you are welcome to bring candy to hand out to the crowd. Please email tina.riggan@iowacityhockey.org if your family will be attending. 1 volunteer credit will be awarded if player and family members are present.
