It was great to see so many of you at our meeting last Thursday. Here are some reminders and notes for those of you that were unable to attend. Practices begin today, Monday, November 4. Please see the schedule below. Due to low numbers in the beginner level, the beginning skaters will be practicing with the Mite level skaters.
Mite News
Marc Pizzimenti will be coaching the Mites. Marc spoke about his philosophy of incorporating games to teach basic hockey skills. The mites will be working on hockey stance, forward skating, turning and beginning to skate backward. It is looking like there will be the option of a Mite Travel team this year. This would involve friendly weekend games with teams from nearby cities (Dubuque, Quad Cities etc.) Fourteen players would be needed to make a solid travel team. Please let Coach Marc know if your child is interested.
Squirt News
Dave Sewell will be coaching the Squirts. Travel games are being scheduled for this level as well. Please let Coach Dave know if your child is interested. The first travel game is Saturday, November 8. More information to come this week.
Sponsorship Help Needed
The fundraising committee is working to secure sponsors for the upcoming season. We need every family to help! Please e-mail your name and two names/contacts of local businesses that you are associated with that may be willing to give a monetary donation to our organization. If you want to contact the business yourself, please request a sponsorship packet. Otherwise board members are happy to do it. Please contact Marla Edwards by Friday, November 7 with this information.
ICH Hosting Holiday Tournament
Mark your calendars for the weekend of December 19-21. ICH and Hawkeyes Hockey are hosting a Mite Tournament at Coral Ridge Ice Arena. This is a huge fundraising opportunity for ICH. We will need many volunteers during this event, so please plan to help out with whatever you can. Look for more information on volunteer opportunities to come.
